Monday nights meeting was a good fun evening with 31 members and guests. We had three South African friends from District 9350. There District has 70 clubs which include 4 Angolan Clubs and 6 in Namibia. Austen entertained the club with his Witty tribute to National Woman’s Day. Mike acting as Sergeant managed to collect a few dollars for the Clubs coffers. Chris Beech from the Newlands club in Cape Town told us about his club with its 45 members evenly split between men and woman who through there projects raise about 100,000 annually. Mick Stone & June Oosthuizen were from the George Club in the Southwestern Cape Country. They had a club with 37 members and said while they did not raise as much as the Newlands Club, they concentrated on having fun (Sounds like a great club) Mick and June were happy to declare that they lovely roast lamb they were fed tonight had been the best meal they had in the four New Zealand Clubs they had attended. We want to wish them Bon Voyage as they travel to Australia to spend a month with a daughter on the Gold Coast. And, to Chris as he returns home to South Africa. Without labouring the point, we have certainly appreciated the excellent meals Paul and his team provide each week. Thank you, Paul. Graham Beach left us with this Parting Thought from the late Bob Hope. “I love flying I have been to almost as many places as my luggage” I hope you all have a great week ahead and look forward to seeing as many members as possible next week in Balclutha.
