Is this our new NZ theme song.?
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams,
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams,
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
The word of the year after "Covid" would have to be "bubbles". Our Prime Minister in her effort to control covid 19 convinced most of us that bubbles were the answer for any successful control. I do wonder if bubbles are a suitable vector as we know as the song reminds us they rise so high nearly reach the sky then like a dream they fade and die ( burst).
This old favourite song was very popular between 1910 -1920 era. and still a favourite waltz tune for the supper Waltz or the last dance when we were young, and that's when many a dream would fade and die. I do hope the covid 19 control programme is not just a dream, but based on science and knowledge and a lot of good luck.
But lately bubbles have taken on a different meaning, but bubbles still seem to fade and die. Nobody has stopped bubbles bursting and what is happening here could prove to have the same fate. It is just a matter of when! In a lot of places overseas they already have.
If you happen to be lucky enough to have survived into the age group most susceptible to covid 1e9 you are justified in being concerned at the bumbling of the Health Dept. and how they are managing the vaccination programme.
