Honorary member Neil Buckley died on the 10th January 2021 ending a long life of service to our club. Neil joined Rotary 11th Feb. 1952 being a member just short of 69 years. Born on15th Sept 1925. He joined the air force saw active duty at the end of ww2 and was discharged before his 20th birthday. He set up a business in Mosgiel as a footwear retailer and his famous shoe sign still features in Gordon road. Another sign which he should be remembered for is the MOSGIEL sign on quarry hill there appears no doubt that he was the visionary responsible for that now famous sign. . Neil had a great sense or humour, a cheeky smile, and a very quick wit and he was always great company and great for a chat. He is a great loss to our club. Our sympathy goes out to all his family for the loss of a real and loved gentleman.ANOTHER LONG SERVING MEMBER HAS DEPARTED
