Presidents Report
Our Rotary district and club have experienced significant changes this year, with the
transition from District 9980 to 9999 bringing about shifts in roles and responsibilities.
Additionally, our club's decision to introduce fortnightly meetings on a trial basis
during the winter months, along with morning teas at local cafes on alternate weeks,
has proven to be a popular and inclusive approach that accommodates various
member schedules and preferences.
The success of fundraising events such as the salmon/venison run, and annual book
sale is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our club members. These
events not only raise funds for important causes but also serve as opportunities for
community engagement and support.
Our club's commitment to supporting a diverse range of organizations and projects,
including the Salvation Army, Anzac Day, St John's, Mosgiel Food Bank, Wasp
eradication project, Maungatua bike and walk event, Berwick and Tautuku Camps,
Firewood and the Dictionary in Schools project, showcases a strong dedication to
making a positive impact in the community across multiple fronts.
It is heartening to hear about the emphasis on fellowship and member support within
your club, especially during times of illness, accidents, or lifestyle changes. This
focus on caring for and supporting one another fosters a sense of community and
camaraderie that is essential for a thriving Rotary club.
Honorary Membership was presented to Michael Lawlor for his 39 years of service to
the Club.
I would like to express and acknowledge my gratitude and recognise the
contributions of club directors and members who have supported me throughout the
year, it shows we have a positive and supportive club culture.
In conclusion, our Rotary club's proactive approach to change, successful events,
community support initiatives, focus on fellowship, and culture of gratitude are all
contributing to a vibrant and impactful club.
I look forward to support Merv and the new directors in the new rotary year as you
