President's Message

Hi Team

Third meeting of the year at the helm and I’ve been away already.

Thanks to Ross Pringle for chairing the meeting at the last meeting.  We had three guest speakers from Tokomairiro High School – Ben Lister, Kyerah Smith and Alena Johnston all shared the experience they had on their Outward Bound course earlier this year.

Our guest speaker this week is Sue Mander – Chairperson of the Milton Op Shop.

Just a reminder to those people who will be going to Balclutha on the 26th August for a get together with the Balclutha Rotary Club; this is a thank you from the local community for the work undertaken by both clubs.

I see Emma has put out the trips for the tramping club this year, I hope everyone gets their name down for what trips you’re wanting to do.

We will need to have a Directors meeting next Monday evening, as there are a few submissions to go through.

Be safe out there

Cheers

Colin Calteaux

Stories
Outward Bound an Amazing Experience
No description available. At our last meeting we were lucky enough to have three young people from Tokomairiro High School share the experiences they had on the Outward Bound 21 day Body Mind and Soul programme.  Alena Johnston and Kyerah Smith (both year 13) completed their course in April and Ben Lister (Year 12) completed his in the July break.
For Ben, his overall favourite event was white water rafting where they were sent down rapids and over waterfalls on the Rai River.  Both Kyerah and Alena said that their favourite activity was coasteering where they made there way around round rock faces and jumped into the ocean off a 10-metre-high cliff.
All three expressed their sincere thanks to the club for supporting them to attend one of the most amazing experiences they have ever had and one that they will remember forever.
