President's Message
Stephen Woodhead

Presidents message;

Hello Rotarians,

Thank you for the good discussion and ideas at our recent meeting, there are a number of opportunities and projects to investigate further and follow through with over the coming year.

At the Directors meeting we agreed to fund $2,500 which is part of the cost of the purchase of two new rowing machines at the Tokomairiro Community Recreation Centre. We also supported Dylan Clark with $250 towards the development of an enchanted garden at the Tokomairiro High School back field - over the stream.

Hopefully we get a nice morning on Saturday to do some work at St Mary’s School, see you there at 9.30 or at the Whitehorse Inn for Rotary on Monday.

Meet the Candidates

Meet the Candidates, all set for 7pm at the Balclutha Town and Country Club on the 13th August.

A crucial general election is coming up soon on the 19th September to elect a Government, a local member to Parliament and to vote on two referendums.

As a result of changes to electoral boundaries the Milton area is now in the Taieri electorate. This along with the retirement of our existing member of parliament means it is important to be informed about the five candidates standing in our electorate as we lead up to election day.

To assist our community to be informed the Rotary Clubs of Milton and Balclutha have organized a Meet the Candidates meeting in Balclutha on August 13th.

Milton Rotary President Stephen Woodhead believes it is a great opportunity to see all the candidates together and hear their views on various topics.

As well as our normal votes for the Party and Candidate we wish to support, we also have the opportunity to vote on two referendums, one on Cannabis Legalisation and Control and the other on End of Life Choice, these are important decisions for our country. Come along on the 13th and hear the candidates views.

We welcome your questions to be put to the candidates, but ask that they are sent or emailed prior to the meeting.
