Rotary Meetings
October 4, 2023 at Rotary
Keith O. did double-duty, offering both our invocation and leading us in songs.  President Zach said he and Cody O. were going to pick up backpack meals the following morning at United Way and deliver them to the school; other volunteers were solicited.  When we started with our brags and fines, Steve A. led off by telling us of a visit from former Rotarian Bob Williams and that he finally secured the title card for the 1934 Bentley he bought ten months ago.  Hal Leland was sorry to have missed our social but enjoyed his traditional trip with his son to Itaska State Park to take pictures (a 40-year occurrence).  Ryan W. realized he may need to check and see if he needs glasses since he had trouble reading our song book, also indicating he likes our singing even if he does not consider himself a great singer.  Mary P. was happy that fellow Rotarian Brian T. is now at Trilogy Real Estate with her.  Dave J. told us that just the day before he and Dolly finished the last of their two lugs of peaches and that they were all good.  Buzz L. also contributed for missing our social ("drunken brawl?") and to acknowledge our program for the day, who he has known for many years.  Keith O. also gave thanks to Brian T. for putting together our social and the interesting tour of the brewery, also asking us to keep Jim Johnson's family in our thoughts and prayers; Jim died last week and worked at Olson Furniture for 44 years).  Deb M. paid in for missing two weeks, including one while she was away attending her fourth-grade grandson's football game and riding the Root River Bike Trail; it runs through Lanesboro and she encouraged all of us to take it in.  The other missed visit was while she was away visiting a son in Devils Lake, which allowed her the opportunity to visit the International Peace Garden, which was described as "wonderful."  That triggered a comment from John M., who told us he spent two weeks at the Garden during its construction phase.

President Zach inducted our two newest members, Cody Odland and the Salvation Army, represented at the meeting by Josh Boyer.  Cody was proposed for membership by Zack while John M. proposed the Salvation Army.
Our speaker was Cody Odland who told us he feels very much welcomed by our club, mentioning that we were so eager to hear from him that he received a call at 9:00 p.m. the previous evening asking him to give his classification talk.  Cody told us he was born, raised and graduated from Fergus Falls, the son of Mike and Sheila; Mike is at Mabel Murphy's while his mother is in the health care industry.  He is the middle child with an older and younger sister, and a proud uncle to three nephews.  He played hokey in Fergus Falls and graduated from high school in 2010.  He then went to
