Our invocation was offered by Keith Olson following and after recital of the Pledge of Allegiance and The Four Way Test respectively. Hal Leland introduced our Student Athletes from M State, Kaia Strom and Avery Wanner, both sophomores and stars on the volleyball team. Avery is from Bismarck, North Dakota while Kaia is from our area, with her mother Susanne also attending. We also had Carsen McKnight from Provo, Utah, who was recognized for his accomplishments on the football field, with the team having won all regular season games but unable to make it through their second playoff round because their quarterback was injured in the first post-season game. Finally, Mikie Vall from Eau Claire, Wisconsin was honored for his contributions to the golf team at M State, which qualified for nationals next June; Mikie was also a medalist at the Region 13 finals.  Left to right: Mikie Vall, Carsen McKnight, Kaia Strom and Avery Wanner President Ken indicated Club members received an invitation to the Chamber of Commerce Merry Mixer on December 3rd; he also passed around a sign-up sheet for people to indicate if they were planning on inviting someone from the Ministerial Association as their guests for today's meeting. Ryan Welle had most of the shirts that were ordered to distribute while Zack Stach circulated the sign-up sheet to ring bells for Salvation Army tat Service today. He also reminded us that we need volunteers to help fill bags at the United Way on November 28th starting at about 9:00 a.m. Randy Kempfer reported the Andy & Elmer books had been ordered. There was then a quiz based on the November Rotarian and we managed to get two questions (out of two questions) wrong for a second week in a row. Maybe we will have better luck next time ifquestions are limited to images or pictures appearing in the edition (hint). Mary Pettit was the first to contribute during our Brag & Fine segment, letting us know the Fergus Falls School of Dance's Dance & Dessert performances are scheduled for December 3 and 4 at the Center for the Arts. She also commented on enjoying her time visiting with Hal Leland while they distributed roses the prior Thursday. Hal Leland reciprocated by indicating he felt likewise. John MacFarland noted that Hal Leland was wearing a Fighting Sioux lanyard. Mark Bring contributed for missing the prior meeting while Steve Leitte paid in anticipation of leaving the meeting early. Randy Kempfer bragged about making two meetings in a row, while President Ken contributed for the enjoyment of watching the Minnesota Vikings miraculous victory over the Buffalo Bills. A rose report followed with 18 members recognized for selling at least three dozen roses. Those selling ten or more dozen included Katie Johnson, John MacFarlane, Dean Monke, Keith Olson, Mary Pettit, Bob Russell, Brian Tjaden, Pete Wasberg and Ryan Welle, with those nine individuals selling 135 of the total 169-dozen sold by Noon Rotarians. Also recognized for their efforts in handling the distribution of the roses on the 10th were Mark Bring, Dave Johnson, Hal Leland, John MacFarlane, Mary Pettit, Zack Stach, Brian Tjaden, Pete Wasberg and Ryan Welle. It is estimated the sale will net about $2,000 in proceeds for our Club. Those attending were reminded they are each part of a team and that the principal purpose these teams were set up was to have people working in small groups to identify and invite prospective members to our meetings. People were asked to take this responsibility seriously and to take it upon themselves to make sure their team is actively working on this effort. It should be aided by the fact we are now only charging members for meals they actually eat and our Rotary District is waving the $66.00 District dues that would be payable by a person joining Rotary before July 1, 2023.
