Jamie Larson offered our invocation. Brian T. reported that all but 300 Lucky Duck Derby tickets are now in circulation, while Lisa M. thanked all those who handed out and read Josh the Otter water safety books to kindergarten students the prior week. (The list of those club members who did so that was included in last week's Rounds inadvertently failed to reference Wally C.) It was announced our meeting on June 12th will be at the Fergus Falls Armory. Deb M. told us plans for an exchange student from Belgium fell through, but now we have been assigned a girl from Argentina; she goes by the name of Candy. It was also announced that we will have an illusionist/magician performing at The Center for the Arts on February 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.; at this point, we are looking for a corporate sponsor. Buzz Lundeen was the first to contribute to the brag bucket, noting when he drove by the Splash Pad site there was water spouting from the equipment, apparently a test and not a leak. Wally C. followed with five brags for which he promised to put in an equivalent amount of dollars this week; the brags included his granddaughter performing in the 7th and 8th grade choir concert, the load of Rotary material he brought to the meeting and for serving as club historian and sergeant-at-arms for many years. Katie J. followed, contributing for having to miss the distribution of the Josh the Otter books and for her daughter graduating from NDSU. Keith O. told us that Daughter No. 3 was at Lake Region to deliver Kim and Keith's ninth grandchild. Deb M. contributed for missing some meetings, to brag about everyone dreaming big at our visioning session and to tell us a little about her visit to Wallace, Idaho -- the entire town is a historic district. Steve L. added that for a time the only stop sign on Interstate 94 was in Wallace. Ken H. reported that the newspaper that had been taking him to Louisiana had been sold and now he will be working with one in Madison, South Dakota, down by Sioux Falls. He also said that the town's college, Dakota State University, specializes in cybercrime training. Kathy A. told us she was leaving on a trip to Pennsylvania to visit her parents and that they have now moved into assisted living with her mother recently hospitalized; a niece is also flying in to visit and provide assistance. Finally, President Zack told us that his daughter Makayla won first place in digital photography at the Blondeau Art Show held on May 20th. Lisa M. then called on Dean M, this writer, Keith O. and Wally C. and Buzz L. to talk about the various club artifacts they had brought to the meeting. It was a worthwhile endeavor, as we identified a couple items we can put to use, maybe not as many to throw, and others that chronicle what has been happening in our club over the years. There is an opportunity to assemble club information and display it in a Lincoln Ave. storefront window; anyone interested in helping on this or knows of someone who could help design and prepare the graphics for it (we can apply for a $400 district grant to pay toward this expense) should contact this writer. |
