 Brent Nelson, President Theodore Roosevelt in the person of Joe Wiegand, Laurel Nelson, Bob Russell and District Governor Keith Brokke and his wife Lynne. Those assembled had a great time visiting with and listening to the presentation by President Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, brought to us by Laurel Nelson. Guests included Laurel's husband Brent and our District Governor and his wife, Keith and Lynne Brokke. We were also joined virtually by Assistant District Governor Blake Crosby, and in person by Sunrise Rotarians Stan Sathre and Karen Terry, with the latter bringing two guests. Also present for the evening were Steve Austvold, Marci Cole, Mark Johnson, Jacklin Steege's guest Dalton Baker, and Past Presidents David Nycklemoe (1985-86) and his wife Trudy (her father, Herman Heinl, served as our club's president in 1954-55), Wally Ness (1987-88) and his wife Audrey, and Tim Bosworth (2012-13) and his wife Brenda. Past presidents who are still in the club and were present included this writer (1988-89), Buzz Lundeen (1989-90), Steve Andrews (1992-93), Keith Olson (2001-02), Dean Monke (2003-04), Jamie Larson (2006-07), Ryan Welle (2015-16), Katie Johnson (2016-17) and Steve Leitte (2017-18). Also in attendance were Rotarians Kathy Austvold, Wally Cole, Ken Harty, Dave Johnson, Lisa McFarland, Laurel Nelson, Jacklin Steege and Pete Wasberg. Double A Catering in the persons of Deanna and Bill Aasness served a fabulous dinner and also joined us for the program. Joe Wiegand is himself a member of the Dickinson Rotary Club and a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. In character as the "Colonel," he entertained us with his vast insights into the man of Theodore Roosevelt, with great doses of humor and historical fact. I was too busy just allowing myself to enjoy the program to make many notes, but one of the humorous sayings I did write down was when Teddy said we made him feel like "the bride at every wedding, the corpse at every funeral and the baby at every christening." President Roosevelt reminded us that in his and our age, we are all called to serve, and we have a wonderful opportunity to do that through Rotary.
