Wally C. offered our invocation and Hal L. introduced student guest Jaden Van Toeffel, a M-State football kicker who graduated from KSS who is studying sports management and hopes to transfer to a four-year D1 or D2 school to continuing playing football. Members were encouraged to cheer on M-State in this Sunday’s playoff game! President Katie reminded everyone that this year we will be holding our Pastors' Appreciation lunch a week early, on November 20th, because the Salvation Army will be closed the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We are also planning a club social the evening of December 18th, with no meeting that day at noon. She also reminded members to sell roses and announced that we would be co-hosting the Spring 2025 District Conference. Bryan T. passed out flyers about sponsors for the Magic Show and encouraged members to seek sponsors for the event. Cody O. passed around a sign-up sheet for members willing to pass out and read Andy & Elmer books to 2nd graders on Wednesday, November 13, and shared that we would soon have information on holiday bell ringing opportunities.
Steve L. started out the bragging by recognizing that he and Cody O. had mowed the community gardens this week. Tim H. put in $5 in fines, noting he had missed a couple meetings while visiting his sons and forgot to find someone to cover his invocation duty. Buzz L. put in $2 for missed meetings, Ryan W. put in $2 for missing a meeting and in recognition of Jaden’s attendance, and Lisa M. put in $3 for missing meetings as well. Katie J. put in $1 for finishing the Kansas City half-marathon with her family—way to go Katie! Hal L. also put in $2 in recognition of Jaden and the M-State team’s success this season.
 
Matt S. introduced our speakers, Angela Quam, Local Manager, and Rebecca Holmen, Fargo-Morehead Manager, from the Title Team which has just opened a new office in Fergus Falls as 125 Lincoln Ave. Suite 11. The Title Team has offices in ND, SD, MN, WI, and MT with approximately 230 employees and works with all the major underwriters. They have closed on properties in all 50 states, so they have national experience. Rotary member Mark B. is on the Board of Directors for the Title Team. Rebecca spoke to us about the work their company performs and the technology they use, including the ROM platform, which, when coupled with Zoom and a certain notary distinction, allows the closing agent to work with a client to close remotely. Angela talked about how she will be the closing agent in Fergus Falls at present (she also works in Wadena and Perham) but that she hopes to have 1-2 staff members in the next year as they staff up the office. In response to a question, Rebecca explained that real estate scams and seller fraud were real concerns that they trained staff on routinely as crooks have gotten more sophisticated and harder to spot. |
