Rotarians helping to stuff the bus at the United Way offices after last Wednesday's meeting included Mark Bring, Steve Leitte, BrianTjaden, Ken Harty, David Johnson, Ryan Welle, John MacFarlane, Mary Pettit, Zach Stach, Steve Andrews, Wally Cole, Jacklin Steege, Dean Monke and Bonnie Denzel. I think Steve Andrew's wife also helped out and I don't know who that is between Jacklin and Mary.
We gathered at Dr. Allen Magnuson Park for lunch on a beautiful day. The invocation was offered by Keith Olson. Steve Andrews brought his wife Menghui to the meeting. President Ken previewed our programs, listed to the right, for our coming August meetings and then we were all given guidance on how to report our peach sales before their arrival (this past Monday). This writer was nearly in tears as he realized it was the last meeting before the peaches arrived and he had forgotten to take the nearly annual Rotary Minute peach quiz from its secure location so it could be administered and thereby serve to encourage Rotarians to sell more peaches. We also learned about an upcoming service opportunity on Thursday, September 1st, at the Spies Park, to set-up a little area with some Rotary information and encourage people to support the splash pad, most likely between 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. We then adjourned the meeting and all but four who attended proceeded over to the United Way offices as previously described to support its Stuff the Bus efforts.
The 2022 Rotary Zones 25B and 29 Institute will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, September 15-18. Zone 25B is made up of Rotary clubs in seven districts in parts of Oklahoma and Texas, while Zone 29 is made up of Rotary clubs in 17 districts in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, the northern Michigan peninsula, northern Illinois, including Chicago, and part of Ontario. There are over 49,000 Rotary members in these Zones. Th Institute is the place to meet fellow Rotarians from around our Zone, network, learn from experienced Rotary members, and share your talents with others. You never know who you will meet, or how you will be inspired. Any Rotary member can attend the Zone Institute, and your significant other is welcome to join. This is a celebration of the efforts of over 49,000 Rotary members in our Zone, how we lead ourselves, and our communities, and set a path for how we will continue to move Rotary forward.
