At the desk was Kathy A. and our greeter was David Lundeen. President Lori called our gathering to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Keith Olson volunteered to do the invocation. While Lulie was in attendance, we had no student guests nor athletes and no Rotary Minute! President Lori announced that club business would be conducted after our program, which consisted of the Hillcrest Vocaleese, introduced by Brad Hoganson. What a delight! They came early enough so they could eat lunch with us and we had a chance to meet them one on one. What a super group of young people. Restores ones' faith. Finishing their meal, the program that was offered was nothing short of terrific! Under the direction of Lynette Tonneson and consisting of 10 girls and 3 boys, their music selection and delivery was beyond the ordinary (if any Christmas music can be called "ordinary") and led into the story of and the promise of the Nativity. Indeed, as the phrase in one of the songs said: "Jesus found us!" Their interpretation and presentation of a song called NOEL was nothing short of sensational. It was musical yet beckoning. It was as if the soloist was calling us to rejoice at the birth (the noel) of our redeemer. Overall, to the observer, Hillcrest gets an A for a dynamic, dramatic, poignant, very well tuned and timed-musical and disciplined program. Wonderful and thanks! On chorus departure, President Lori announce that the baby photo from the past week was of Dan Johnson. Brags and fines included Stan Carignan reporting on a trip to Lambeau Field to see a Packers game, the very game that saw coach Mike McCarthy fired (the Packers won/loss record is below .500, including the loss to lowly Arizona). Still and all, it is sometimes fun to experience the stadium hoopla! Buzz Lundeen gave kudos for the fireworks the evening of December 1st. Indeed! Very impressive end to a nice community afternoon and evening President Lori reminded us that next Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the lower level of the Mill Street Residence will be our next Wine Down Wednesday. (Please come and have some cheer and fellowship!) Good finger food will be catered and water will be provided. If you need spirits (I do) or soft drinks, bring your own. Steve Leitte said he would bring plenty of beer for those who like it. Entertainment will be provided by the M State Choir. Always a treat to hear. Other business: Do not forget to sign up for Salvation Army Bell Ringing! And the Club Nominating Committee is looking for people to serve on the Club's Board. |
