Rotary Meetings
Expect an E-mail
ClubRunner does not allow attachments to bulletins, so this is to alert you to an e-mail that will follow that will have as attachments:  1) the completed Club Service responsibilities of all members for the 2024-25 year; 2) the prospective member list that we came up with at last week's meeting; and 3) the minutes of the Club's July Board meeting.  As to the Minutes, Rotary International adopted a policy that all board meeting minutes should be distributed to club members within one month of the meeting date.  As to the prospective member list, President Katie wants to identify in the next week anyone that should be removed from the list for any reason and then volunteers to claim a name and make an invitation.  Please do not ignore the e-mail!
Lucky Duck Derby Winners at Wednesday's Meeting
This Wednesday we will be presenting checks to our Lucky Duck Derby winners:  Past District Governor Keith Brokke's duck came in first, Dolly Johnson's (Dave's wife) came in second and Zack S.'s duck came in third.  A total of 821 tickets were sold (86 alone at Shop, Move'n Groove), with gross income of $8,165 and net proceeds of $6,550.   A thank you to those who worked the event the day of our first aborted race:  Katie J., Brian T., Wally C., Steve A., John M., Cody O., Kathy A., Zack S., and Dave J.

Jamie Larson offered the invocation, and he fixed the microphone, so it was working for President Katie, to whom we sang Happy Birthday (celebrated the day before our meeting).  There was a Rotary Minute quiz based on the July Rotarian, with only one of three questions answered correctly.  The 792 lugs of peaches (36 to 54 peaches) we have to sell will arrive one week earlier than previously announced, on August 12th, with the hope that our sales sheets will be returned to Brian at our meeting on August 7th.  Mark B. passed around a thank you note from Jackson Luke who received this year's Wes Waage Rotary Memorial Scholarship at M-State; next year he plans on attending the University of Minnesota in Duluth to major in environmental science.

Deb M. had a lot of Rotary related things to brag about.  She has completed and submitted the grant application for the Bolivia school project.  Other clubs supporting the project include Jamestown ($1,000), Devil's Lake ($1,000), Fargo-Moorhead PM ($900), Fargo-Moorhead Am ($400), Fargo West ($400), Fargo ($400) and Moorhead ($400).  Deb told us she was also just back from Michigan where she attended a youth exchange event for multiple Rotary districts; Deb was inspired by next year's RI President, Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo from Brazil, who was a Youth Exchange student in White Bear Lake fifty years ago.  Deb also told us her grandkids are loving the Splash Pad.  President Katie was happy to report her son got a job in Boise, Idaho.   John M. was celebrating Otter Tail Power's common stock almost reaching $100 a share and Steve A. picking John up in Steve's Bentley and giving John a ride to the meeting.  Buzz L. called everyone's attention to a nice picture of Katie and Dr. Money in The Daily Journal accompanying an article on cholesterol, the same week another picture that included Katie appeared with the Journal's coverage of the Lucky Duck Derby.

Katie than had us all playing a game called, "Who Knows a Potential Rotarian?'  Her slides identified different professions from which we were asked to call out prospective member names and by the time we were finished we had quite a list.  That list will be circulated as part of a follow-up e-mail as previously reported.  Remember, when you bring a prospective Rotarian to a meeting, the club pays for their lunch.  Katie also mentioned volunteers were needed to help in creating an onboarding document for the club and, once we have new members, to serve as mentors to them.
