DESIGN: The design committee is working with Gast Construction (Construction Management firm) and Confluence (Landscape Architects) to gather bids and cost estimates for the project, in hopes it can be built in the summer of 2022. There is a meeting planned with City of Moorhead and Moorhead Parks & Recreation staff to discuss the project. KLJ (engineering firm) is providing expertise regarding the soil and site preparation, given there has been concrete rubble discovered in the hillside. A team of cycling enthusiasts (including support from Great Northern Bicycle shop) will be looking into the design and layout of the bike park.

 

FUNDRAISING: The fundraising goal has been increased by the FM Rotary Foundation board to $1 million to account for a larger scale project and to allow the grantwriting and business outreach teams to continue their work to build a world class playground. The original fundraising goal was $700,000. The larger project would allow for some potential new features such as a Pavilion to host events, running water to the site, flood-proof lighting, an interactive public art piece (not to mention covering the increases in supply costs and possible soil mitigation measures). Summaries of current fundraising totals are shared in-person at Thursday morning meetings (not posted publicly at this time).
