Because of our commitment to service, there are several opportunities for you to help both local and international.

Local Service Opportunities

Miracle Field - FMMiracleField.org
The Miracle Field is a specially constructed field, whose unique feature is a rubber turf that can accommodate wheel chairs, walkers, crutches, braces, and other mechanisms.

Like any field, the Miracle Field will have a pitcher's mound, an outfield, dugouts, scoreboard, and bleacher seating for spectators. The Field will provide a unique and much needed opportunity for special needs children to play baseball.  Thanks to the leadership of individuals in our Fargo Moorhead Rotary clubs and the support of businesses in our community, our Miracle Field was one of the fastest fields to be completed in the country!

English Language Learners (ELL)
During the school year, Rotary clubs participate with Carl Ben Eilson School in Fargo. For an hour during the week, Rotarians help students that are learning a new language, with home work and other school projects in an effort to better their reading and comprehension skills.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Each summer, our club sponsors students to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). This is a program for sophomore and junior high school students and provides outstanding young leaders a variety of educational and recreational activities in an atmosphere where they are exposed to the opportunities and challenges of leadership.

Other important projects that we are passionate about are:
  • Rotary Universal Playground at Lindenwood Park
  • 61 for 61 Roger Maris Cancer Center Fund Raiser
  • Roadside Beautification
  • Dictionaries for third graders in all of the Fargo and West Fargo schools

International Service Opportunities

Rotary Youth Exchange
The youth exchange is an important Rotary program. For several years, the FM-AM Club has sponsored an incoming foreign exchange student. We also have an opportunity to send a local student on an exchange. It has been a wonderful experience to get to know high school students from countries around the world. There is no doubt that lives are changed forever for both the students as well as the host families.

Guatemala Projects
Project Guatemala is an international service project of the Fargo-Moorhead Rotary Clubs and the clubs of Rotary District 5580 reaching out and partnering with the Vista Hermosa Rotary Club of Guatemala City and the Rotary Clubs of Rotary District 4250. Ongoing since 2002, our mission is to build futures by building schools and medical facilities, supplying instructional materials and library books to schools, and providing corn meal grinding machines and potable water to villages. In doing this we build friendships and cultural exchange.
