At its November meeting the Board:
Agreed to:
- lodge the FY25 Accounts and the recently approved Constitution
- recommend to the RCW Trust the purchase 10 shelter bags (valued $1500) for the Soup Kitchen to distribute to the homeless - this is a NZ Rotary initiative
- use $5,000 from Salmon and Knowles bequest to support WELD’s campaign for social housing
- approve the membership application of H.E Johnny Sexwale
- the re-naming of Jumbo Tennis to Rotary Jumbo Tennis
The Board considered a request for RCW to be the RI global grant holder for an early childhood education programme in Timor-Leste (East Timor), and had reservations about the resources needed to run this. Other avenues for RCW input may still be available and these will be discussed with International Committee.
Before our club meeting on 1 December the board met to work through its activities plan and how to resource this.
First, a big vote of thanks to everyone involved in our projects, meetings, and running the club. We know we have pressure points, as well as opportunities for members to try new activities. Talk to Lynn or Denise About upcoming roles and activities, and look out for more on this in the new year.
One handover to note please: Nick Hurley has decided to finish his stint on the Board. He is also finishing as the person responsible for meeting registrations and handing over to Anthony Scott.
A big thanks Nick for sterling service in both roles, and your willingness to take on a Jumbo Tennis role as catering coordinator.
