Books Needed for Altum Classical Academy’s Empty Shelves

Altum Classical Academy is experiencing remarkable growth, skyrocketing from just 16 students at the start of 2026 to and anticipated roll of 80-100 in 2027. This rapid expansion is a notable milestone for the new charter school.

Our club member, Christian Pera, is the founding principal of the school and is very pleased with its brand-new library. However, it currently has a lot of empty shelves. If you have any books you want to get rid of, please consider donating them. The school will review all donations, keep as many useful titles as possible, and responsibly offload the rest.

If you can assist, please contact Christian directly at principal@altum.school.nz to coordinate.

Take Action Against Family Violence: How You Can Help

You can support this vital new initiative by taking two simple actions:
  • Wear purple on monthly Purple Fridays to spark community conversations.
  • Join the District Purple Walk this November to take a visible stand.
With NZ police responding to a family harm incident every three minutes, Rotary is stepping up to raise awareness alongside partners like Women’s Refuge and Shine. This is not a fundraiser—your only investment is buying a T-shirt. Support is strong across all five NZ districts, and your Club President has the full details.

Injecting Hope: Rotary Mobilises for World Polio Day!

Ahead of World Polio Day on 24 October, Rotary members are celebrating incredible progress in global eradication. Thanks to innovative, needle-free jet injectors, vaccinators in Afghanistan are building immense community trust and have successfully protected over 1.2 million children in the eastern region.

With wild polio now endemic in only two remaining countries, our club’s continued support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) is bringing the world closer than ever to a polio-free future. Read the full, inspiring story in the latest issue of Rotary magazine!
