John Boshier interviews Youssef Mourra, CEO of Nonsuch, on why the company sponsors Jumbo Tennis
We chatted with Youssef Mourra, Founder & CEO of Nonsuch to get the inside word
  • Why did Nonsuch get involved with Jumbo Tennis?

Jumbo Tennis has consistently been about raising funds for charitable causes, the latest being the Children’s Hospital. I’m a member of the Rotary Club of Wellington (RCW) and have been so for almost 15 years and this tournament is owned and managed by RCW. Initially, we put in a team but enjoyed the atmosphere of the day so much that we wanted to get more involved, so I joined the Organising Committee and then after that Nonsuch came onboard as a sponsor.
  • What do you think the event achieves?

The event, ultimately, is about raising funds for good causes and it does it well. On average, about $30k is raised each year. So, raising funds is the ultimate outcome. Other secondary outcomes include enhancing and raising the reputation of RCW, the greater connectedness that the RCW members feel after the event and the level of fun and commitment made by the various corporations and organisations who send their teams of 4 players year after year. It’s a bit of a sporting highlight for many people on their calendar of events!
  • Any highlights of your involvement?

Too many to state! But I guess handing out prizes to winners and watching dramatic games around the finals. Unfortunately, to date, no Nonsuch team has made the final, so maybe our highlight is still to come?  But the highlight really is handing of the cheques over to the respective causes.
