This week we will meet at the YMCA and by Zoom. The program will be the Holiday Auction led by auctioneers extraordinaire Joe and Hugo. Gifts should be wrapped (some folks are much better at this) and should be in the $25 range. Proceeds help fund the Holiday Families and this meeting has a history of being a fun holiday event. We will discuss and vote on updated Club Bylaws that will be sent to all members. We will discuss the status of the makeup of the 2022-2023 Board. Duties will be: Invocation - Chris Sward and Fellowship - Ross Peterson.
We will not hold meetings on December 24th Christmas Eve or December 31st New Years Eve. Our next meeting will be Friday, January 7th, 2022.
What a full Rotary week we had last week. The Board met on Wednesday and Friday started at Walmart at 6:00 AM and ended later that evening at the Aquarium. In between we wrapped presents for three holiday families and were on the news giving a $2000 check to the Duluth Fire Department. So many Skyliners and even student Rotarians helped to make it all work. Thanks to Russ for identifying the families, to Greg for organizing the shopping, to Judy for organizing the wrapping, to Lisa for coordinating the press coverage, and to Chris for organizing the dinner, and to everyone else who helped. Friday was a great Rotary day of service and fellowship for our Club.
Today Greg organized bell ringing at the Mall from 10:00 - 8:00. He put in a long day. Thank you to the volunteers. It is heartwarming to witness the generosity of strangers.
The date for the Christmas dinner at Life House has changed to Tuesday, December 21. We will be providing cookies.
December is Rotary Disease Prevention and Treatment Month.
