Last Saturday we had a very hard working crew of three women and three men, but we were not able to complete the Shelter/Stage project so we will be there again this Saturday. The Hermantown Community Learning Center 4333 Hawk Circle Drive starting at 9:00 AM and through the day.
This Friday, October 7th we will be back at the YMCA and our speaker will be Desiree Otterino from the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse. Duties will be: Invocation - Jodi May, Fellowship - Hugo Hietapelto, and Greeter - Adam Daoust. Garret has rescheduled Highway Cleanup for following the meeting. Please plan to help.
Next Friday's meeting 10/14 will be at the YMCA and our speaker will be Larry Pajari, the new Executive Director of Northwood Children's Services. Duties will be; Invocation - Kris Lee, Fellowship - Trish Crego, and Greeter - Suzanne Anderson.
Upcoming Rock the Skyline Committee Zoom meetings will be tomorrow 10/5 at 4:00 and on 10/12, 10/19, and 10/26.
Earl will bring Rotary Roses to our meeting on Friday, October 14th. Please buy roses and let Earl know if you would like him to deliver them to you on the 14th.
Last week's guests were Colton Suihkonen, Dan Dock, and a special visiting Rotarian from Brazil, her daughter, and her 25 day old grandson. What fun guests to have visit us. Our speaker was Tara Gallagher from the Ronald McDonald House. Tara told us that the mission of the RMH was to keep families close to kids when they are going through medical care. They want to take care of the family so that the family can take care of their child. The RMC reduces the cost to families when their children need healthcare. RMC is all over the world including chapters in 50 states. The Duluth House started in the middle of the pandemic and has 5 overnight rooms. The average stay is 3 weeks because most of the children are very sick such as needing NICU services. We will be sure to save our Friday pop tabs and think about building a pop tab collection box. The RMH gives out "care bags" to guests that include personal hygiene items socks, shaving cream, etc. We could help to provide some of those items.
October is Rotary Community Economic Development Month.
