Last week we met at the Caddyshack for a Happy Hour. We were hosted by Stephanie LaFleur who is also President of the Lincoln Park Business District. The meeting was followed by a Peach Committee meeting. Last week we also held a Rock the Skyline Committee meeting.
As we get to the end of the outdoor projects season we will need weekly speakers. Please think about topics and presenters who you know and could ask to speak or who you would like to hear and send those suggestions to Mark for follow up.
Did you see the front page article in the DNT about the rock climbing project for youth sponsored by the Valley Youth Center and the Boys and Girls Club? Congratulations to Russ and Todd for the great work that they do with our youth.
Upcoming projects at Life House and Boys and Girls Club are on our calendar for the holiday season coordinated by Dan Dock working with Club 25.
Dave Thompson is the student Rotarian counselor for Hermantown High School. He will have students ready to join us in October. Working with students is fun. If you have an interest in working with students at Hermantown, Proctor, or Marshall high schools, please let Russ or Mark know and we will include you.
September is Rotary Basic Education and Literacy Month. New RI President Shekhar Mehta says, "Empowering people through education is among the boldest goals we have as Rotarians. One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world".
