My apologies; I just remembered that I forgot to send out the Skyliner on Tuesday evening. I will blame it on the bump that I got on my head over the weekend, but really I just forgot.
Happy New Rotary Year.

Tuesday we had our first new 2023-2024 Board Meeting. New Board members include Adam Daoust as Vice President, Matt Wicklund and Past President, David Lewis as Treasurer, Russ Salgy as Club Service, and co-chairs for New Generations Alex Shulte and Emily Marshall. Thank you all for committing to serve. Thank you to retiring Board members for their years of service; Deb Almirall, Todd Peyton, Chris Sward, and Ross Peterson.
Garret and Greg have started counting projects towards our goal of 50 this year. Hunter Bergson of J3 Insurance and his wife will join us at the Changing of the Guard and wish to become a member. There is a movement to revive the Paul Harris Dinner. Skyline hosted a great one two years ago. It looks like the upcoming one will be co-hosted by Harbortown and Superior.
Look for an email about the Rock the Skyline committee. We need to get the early planning started. October 27 or 28 looks like the preliminary possible dates.
Last week our meeting guests were;
Skyline PP Harry Podgorski, and Colton and Vinnie Suihkonen.
It was the first meeting of the new Rotary year, our Club's 50th year, and Tim's first meeting as Club President. What a great start to a new year. We re-inducted David Norland with the help of PP Harry Podgorski. Kevin inducted Emily Marshall who also won our 50/50 drawing on her first try. We are so pleased to have both David and Emily as our newest members.
We watched the video that Emily prepared of the kids planting vegetables in the Kids Garden. Very cute. You can see it on our website.
Mark spoke about progress on the Warsaw, Poland Refugee project and we saw the new van for transporting refugees to and from the Center that Skyline helped to fund. Gordon Lightfoot's song, "Beautiful" closed out our meeting. It was a beautiful meeting.
Russ sent out the invitation to play in or sponsor the Valley Youth Center Gopher Golph Classic on Friday, August 4th with 9:30 shotgun start at Nemadji Golf Course.
July is Rotary Maternal and Child Health Month.
Thought for the Week
"Maternal health remains a staggering challenge, particularly in the developing world. Globally, a woman dies from complications in childbirth every minute".
