Welcome to Skyline Rotary

Duluth Skyline Rotary is a member of Rotary District 5580
Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
Duluth YMCA: 4289 Ugstad Rd. Hermantown, MN 55811 - Driving Directions

As always Skyliners were generous in spirit and with pies and whipped cream for the young people at Life House today.
We will not be meeting this Friday 11/28. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

We have information from Hermantown Schools about a Holiday family. Thank you John. We will shop and then meet for lunch on Friday, December 5th. See details in next week's Skyliner.

Our guests last week were: Student Rotarians from Proctor Jaiden Dingman and Cadence Madison and our speakers from Chum John Cole and Tim Wilson.
President Kevin gave an update on the Skyline Sip and Sample on Saturday February 28th from 6:00 - 10:30 at the Aad Shriner's Event Center. Tim says that Big Wave Dave and the Ripples will be the music headliner.
Mark introduced our speakers from CHUM. John Cole is the Executive Director and Tim Wilson is the Mission Advancement Director. John started by asking us to to describe our experience with homelessness. He spoke about the chronic nature of homelessness related to drug addiction and mental health as well as the lack of affordable housing. The CHUM shelter helps keep those people alive. CHUM was started by ten congregations and it has now grown to forty two congregations. John spoke about the mission of CHUM to provide stabilization, food, housing, and outreach advocacy and organizing. Their mission will be enhanced by an expansion of their shelter to 160 beds. Their shelter is the only one north of the Twin Cities. When asked, John estimated that on any day there are probably 800 people living homeless in the Duluth area. There needs to be more housing, more treatment and mental health beds to help address homelessness. Thank you to CHUM and all of the other organizations helping people in need in our community.

November is Rotary International Foundation Month.

Thought for the Week
"Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us; and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips and shows itself in the deeds."
