Wonderful news! PP Todd Peyton learned today that Skyline won a Rotary Presidential Citation for achieving our Club goals for 2020-2021 as identified in Club Central. Congratulations to Todd and the Club.
This week's meeting will be held at the YMCA. This will be a hybrid meeting. The presentation will be by Tammy Sundbom, Resource Development Director for the Boys & Girls Club of the Northland. We will induct Bob Sherman into the Club. Tickets for Rock the Skyline will be available. Duties will be: Invocation - Tim Leutgeb and Fellowship - Mark Leutgeb.
Next week's meeting will be at the YMCA with program TBD.
At last week's meeting we had 25 attendees including Dan Dock visiting Rotarian from Club 25, Bob Sherman and Trish Crego both prospective members, and Tom Meyer for his first meeting since returning to our Club as a member. There was lots of good fellowship including the fellowship by Rob. Dan Dock spoke about the upcoming opportunities to work with youth through Life House and the Boys & Girls Club. Mark presented a reading program for second and third grade students built around the Four-Way Test and Service Above Self. A Club in Fairborn, Ohio developed a comprehensive program that includes books, posters, lesson plans, and digital media. Mark ordered a Project Starter Kit which the Club can discuss implementing with our Proctor and Hermantown elementary schools. Link to their website is: info@andyandelmer.com
Russ gave details on piggybacking with the Valley Youth Center on their Thanksgiving Fudge Fundraiser again this year. Orders need to be to Russ by late October then to the supplier by mid November. Half pound boxes are $6.00 and received great reviews last year. Sugar free is available, but costs more. That will be my excuse for buying the real sugar stuff.
Earl has Club 25 Rose tickets for sale, and he will deliver the ordered roses to the Club on Friday, October 15th.
October is Rotary Community Economic Development Month. New RI President Shekhar Mehta says, "When we work to improve the lives of people in underserved communities - through, for example, projects that provide vocational training and access to financial resources - we help build and sustain local economic growth".
