We will meet this Friday, November 17th at the OMC Smokehouse, 1909 West Superior Street. This will be a fun
social event. There will be no Zoom or Duties this week. We will order off of the menu and owner, Tom Hansen, will give an update on his restaurants and businesses and the state of the Craft District. Thank you to Jim Curtis for setting this up.
This Sunday November 19th from 4-9:00 PM there is a volunter opportunity at Bentleyville at the fire pit to help with marshmellow roasting. We could use a couple more volunteers. Let Garret know that you will be there.
Next week Friday November 24th there will be no meeting. Have a good Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.
Tuesday was the November Board Meeting. We are gratefull to all of the members who put in long years on the Board and excited to have new leaders willing to do the work to keep the Club on a strong path and to make the Club theirs. We are working on the December meeting schedule that will include a Holiday Party, Holiday Auction meeting to help fund our Holiday Families gifts, and Holiday Family shopping and gift wrapping meeting. We will be doing bell ringing for the Salvation Army again this year. We are a busy and generous Club.
It is Fudge Fundraiser time again with Russ having us tag along with his Valley Youth Center. For our newer folks just know that it is fabulously decadent fudge that family and friends will love you for gifting them. The order form will follow in another email.
Last week's meeting guests were: From Hermantown High School Noah Blomquist and his Grandfather Randy Blomquist, From Marshal School Vi Vu and Student Advisor Jessica Saxton, our regular visitor from Downtown Dan Dock, and visiting Rotarian from Enid, OK Chad Forbeck. We asked Chad Forbeck to tell us about himself and his Club. He is a business developer and realtor. His Club is a huge 400 members. Our friend Stephanie LeFleur from the Caddyshack referred him to visit us.
We recognized November birthdays and start date anniversaries. The four start date anniversaries tallied combined over 120 years of service to our community. Impressive!
Trish gave us an update on her new position with the City of Hermantown as Utility and Infrastruture Director. She is biusy working on roads and the new arena, and she bagged and extracted her deer from the woods herself. Congrats!
Dan Dock gave an update on the Life House Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday, November 21st and asked for some help with the Decorate the Tree at the Boys and Girls Club Lincoln Park Location, 2407 W 4th Street on Tuesday, Tuesday November 28th from 1:30-3:30.
Kevin made a very generous offer to the Club for a Thanksgiving bread drive through at his office on 2516 London Road on Thursday November 16th from 4-6:00 PM. The bread is his gift and comes from Great Harvest. Options are Pumpkin, Pumkin Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Chip, and Cranberry Wild Rice. If you have a request for for a certain type give him a call or text 218-606-0198 to be sure he has one available for you. Very kind Kevin.
Joe and Susan made a first ever camping trip through Europe and he said that they had a fabulous time and would do it again.
We watched a beautiful video sponsored by the World Health Organization thanking Rotary for our work to eradicate polio and Mark walked through the online process for donating to the Foundation.
November is Rotary Foundation Month.
