This Tuesday 7/1 we will meet at the Pike Lake Golf and Beach Club 4895 Midway Road for the Annual Changing of the Guard. Social hour starts at 4:30 with dinner at 5:30. This will be a casual family friendly event. There will be opportunities to play golf or other sports after dinner so dress appropriately.
There will be no meeting this Friday, July 4th because of the Changing of the Guard.
We will not work at North Country Ride tomorrow. Special caulk needs to be ordered online. Reschedule TBD.
BUSY WEEK!
Wednesday the 2nd Tim's band Black River Review will play a Concert on the Pier at Glensheen with doors open at 5:00 with Dan Israel playing at 5:30 and BRR at 6:30 until 8:00. The concerts were Tim's and Dan Hartman's idea so it is appropriate that BRR gets to open the 10th season. Come by car and sit on the lawn or come by boat and sit in the water. This is a uniquely Duluth experience.
Set up for the Air Show is Thursday July 3rd. We will meet at the Social House parking lot at 9:00 so that we can go through the security area together. Wear your Airshow shirt.
It is time to start getting psyched about selling peaches. Let's have peach t-shirts and peach signs for the Hermantown Summerfest Block Party so that people know that we are Skyliners.
I got a call from Patty Yax this morning. Her health is failing, but her spirits are high. Her health will keep her from traveling back to Duluth for the summer as she and Rod had done for many years. She and Bill were stalwarts of the early years of Skyline Rotary.
The Valley Youth Center Gopher GOLPH Classic wiil be held Friday, August 1st 9:00 shotgun start at Nemadji. Mark, Tom, Kevin, and Joe are playing.
I heard from PDG Kay Biga that the Pachel Foundation she manages will be sponsoring a night at the Duluth Playhouse again this Fall on September 11. The musical will be "Million Dollar Quartet" set on December 4, 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis when Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley had a jam sesssion. This will be free to Rotarians and guests. Be there or be square.
Guests last week were Downtown Rotarian Dan Dock, David's kiddos Nidel and Emmerlee, and Susan Meyer. We had a short but as always fun meeting. We heard about Emily's trip to Montana, people's best birthdays, and that Judy Rogers won the big prize in the Harbortown raffle. Outbound Exchange Student Gus Olson will get rescheduled for mid July.
