Board members remember our November Zoom Meeting this Wednesday at 4:00.
This week's meeting will be a Happy Hour meeting held on THURSDAY the 11th (Veterans Day) at 5:00 at Ursa Minor brewery taproom, 2415 West Superior Street. There will be pizza and a good opportunity to socialize. At 5:30 we will observe a moment of silence to remember our veterans, those who are serving now, and those who are struggling as a result of their service. If you are not able to attend the meeting we ask that whever you are you join us for that moment. This will not be a Zoom meeting due to background sound. This meeting will replace of our usual Friday meeting.
Next week's meeting will be held on Friday the 19th at the YMCA and will be a hybrid meeting. This will be our Foundation Day meeting led by Ross Peterson, our Foundation Chairperson. We will also hear from our own Amy Hietapelto with an update on her new position at UMD as Interim Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and changes in the works at UMD. Duties will be; Inovcation - Garret Suihkonen, and Fellowship - Jodi May.
Last week's meeting was run by PP Todd Peyton. Thank you Todd. Guests from Proctor High School were Elaine Lynas, Shanna Isaacs, Evan Bowan, Aaron Nicolson, and Brydon Kolenda. Guest of Kevin Kalligher was David Lewis.
There was a good discussion about lessons learned from the very successful Rock the Skyline concert, follow up to be done, and thank yous to all for a project well done.
Dan Dock is organizing Thanksgiving dinner at Life House again this year on Tuesday, November 23rd. These are young people who need both a good meal and to see that their community cares about them. Dan has asked us to provide pies and whip cream again. He says they just need 5 pies and 6 cans of whip cream, but last year I watched those young people enjoy the treats we provided so I think we should make sure that they have plenty to enjoy. I will bring the whip cream, but let me know if you can make or buy a pie (pumpkin, apple or chocolate but no nuts) and deliver it to Life House by 2:30 on the 23rd. I would be happy to pick up and deliver your pies too.
Russ has ordered Fudge but they will have extra if you didn't get your order in. Make checks payable to VALLEY YOUTH CENTER. Friday December 10 we will holiday shop at 6:00 am and wrap presents at noon at the YMCA. That evening will also be our holiday party at the Aquarium. A full Rotary day!
November is Rotary Foundation Month.
