The Peach truck left the orchard in Washington State today. Keep selling and let's make it a short day on Saturday. We will set up at 9:00 on Friday. Sam's Club pizza will arrive for lunch about noon. Tickets say 11:00 start, but we know that peach customers will be there earlier than 11:00 and then we sell until 6:00. Saturday set up should be quick and then sell from 9:00 until sold out.
The Board met today. We approved purchasing Rotary shirts for Club members. We will need shirt sizes from everyone. A list will be passed around at our next meeting. There will be a Board training held on Tuesday, 9/5 noon at the Bent Paddle upstairs meeting room. We discussed identifying environment and mental health projects per the request of DG Dave Long. There is a $100 each incentive from the District to help fund those projects. Alex and Emily are getting prepared to meet with our three schools to start engaging the students in all of the opportunities that Skyline has to offer. Alex will become the new Youth Protection Officer for the Club. Russ has a list of upcoming social events. The Superior Club would like to schedule a golf outing together after the Dragon Boats dust settles and before the snow flies. A Twin Ports Paul Harris Dinner is being planned. Skyline did the last one and Greg set the bar so high that it scared the other Clubs from following his act. Oh, and there was the pandemic too. Downtown and Superior are co-hosting this year and we are planning a fun and affordable gathering. All Twin Ports Clubs will make this their weekly meeting. We are preliminarily looking at October 24th. Open dates for speakers or projects are 9/15 and 9/22. Judy has put together a list of all of the organizations that Skyline supported financially last year that will be posted on our website. If folks ask you where we use the proceeds from our fundraisers you can direct them there.
Guests at last week's meeting were: the David Lewis clan of all five kids (they were really well behaved), and very special guest and past Skyliner Curt Teberg. Welcome back to Todd E. (the elder) Johnson who missed a couple of weeks for health reasons. President Tim told us that he learned from his recent visit to an Anchorage, Alaska Club that the unofficial 5th Test of the Four-Way Test is, "Is it Fun?". I don't know why our Club didn't come up with that first because we always have fun. Trish told us that she has a new job working for the City of Hermantown. We saw Trish and Kris on The Lift sailing in the Wednesday regatta. The recently retired veterinarian and superior Superior Rotarian, Dr. Bob McClellan spoke to us about volunteer needs for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival. We need van drivers, parking area, traffic control, and a number of other areas of help. August is Rotary Membership and New Club Development Month. Let's get on track to be a 50 member Club in our 50th year.
