We will NOT meet this Friday 2/27/2026 at the YMCA.
However, we hope to see you on Thursday at the Bent Paddle Taproom for the monthly Meat Raffle from 6-8:00. Come hungry for a bucket of pulled beef sandwiches. AND We really hope to see you on Saturday evening 5-10:00 for Rock the Skyline at the AAD Shriners Event Center. Please bring family and friends. There will be plenty of good food, drinks, and music. The silent raffle items are sounding good. Just for the long timers - we won't be tearing down and loading the stage at 3 AM.
Guests last week were: District 5580 Governor Elaine Hansen, and student Rotarians from Proctor Lola Witly, Zoey Stuber, and Sophie Folkestad.
District Governor Elaine spoke about how Rotary International is changing to become more relevant. After 30 years in Rotary I have seen many changes already that move towards more relevance for the next generation. Rotary and the District are looking to make wiser decisions about controlling costs and spending more carefully and wisely. Next year's theme of "Creating a Lasting Impact" is a reflection of that effort. RI is organizing itself with focus on four areas; Membership, Foundation, Public Image, and Finance. The District will reorganize to follow RI's lead. DG Elaine asked us to talk to our communities about what we do in Rotary. People want to do things and so they need to know what Rotary does.
Earth Day is April 22nd and 6 Districts want each of their Clubs to do a water related project. DG Elaine asked us to put this year's District Conference in Brainerd on October 1-4 on our calendars. She also asked for more people to consider joining District committees. Thank you to DG Elaine for her presentation and her commitment to Rotary.
Our March 20th meeting will be a Bring a Guest Day. We are also considering supporting a cause on that day.
March 27th is our next opening for a speaker if you have someone that you would like to invite to speak.
Febuary is Rotary International Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month.
Thought for the Week
"World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just mere absence of violence. Peace is, I think, the manifestation of human compassion."
