Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
There will not be a regular Friday 9/26 noon meeting this week at the YMCA. Our Friday meeting will be a picnic held in Lester Park at the site of the Lester River Rendezvous. We can start at noon, do some site cleanup, and have a picnic lunch. This Friday the weather is predicted to be 63 and sunny. There will be no duties this week.
Last week we met at North Country Ride. They provide theraputic horse riding experiences for young and old people with physical and cognitive issues including PTSD and autism. The horses have a calming impact on their riders. Julie Peterson, Executive Director described how intelligent and intuitive their 10 horses are with a story about how a child had been wheeled up the HC ramp and was ready to get on the horse, but the horse held back. Within a couple of minutes the child experienced a seizure that would have been dangerous had she been on the horse. It was marvelous to hear how the North Country volunteers and horses work together so well to provide a theraputic experience. The newly restored log pavilion looks wonderful. It is the third significant project that Skyline has performed there. North Country Ride does great work with people in need and Skyline is a good part of that. Thank you Skyliners.
Some Skyliners and the Senich family gathered last Saturday at DECC for the kickoff ceremony for the the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's. It was a pleasure to walk with John's mom and to hear how his father was a Rotarian and how he is receiving compassionate care in Hibbing.
September is Rotary International Basic Education and Literacy Month.
