This week's meeting on November 11th will be at the YMCA and our speaker will be our own Russ Salgy speaking on the plans for the Valley Youth Center's new teen space. Duties will be; Invocation - Todd E. Johnson, Fellowship - Tim Leutgeb, and Greeter - Amy Hietapelto. Friday is also Veterans Day. Let's recognize and thank our veterans for their service. 

 

The November Board meeting is this Thursday the 10th at noon at the Bent Paddle Taproom and by Zoom. Join us if you wish.  

 

Next week's meeting on the 18th will be on The Rotary Foundation and will be led by our Club Foundation Chair, Ross Peterson. Duties will be; Invocation - Russ Salgy, Fellowship - Rob Shamblott, and Greeter - Brian Tasky. 

 

Lindsey Whitlinger from Bell Insurance attended last week's meeting on the recommendation of past Skyliner, Jon Birkeland and decided that she would like to join our Club. This is the first publishing of Lindsey to become our newest member of Skyline Rotary Club.

We had a wonderful group large group attending last week's meeting including eight Student Rotarian guests; From Proctor Ava Hammitt, Felany Kirkpatrick, Ellie Folkstad, Sophie Lynn, Madison Twaddle, and Gabe Foucault. From Hermantown Jadyn Lind and Colten Danelski. Other guests included Arlo Leutgeb, Lindsey Whitlinger, Jennifer Cady, and Colton Suihkonen. So nice to have so many young people meting with us. 

Our speaker, Jennifer Cady is Director of Regulatory Affairs for Minnesota Power. She is a twenty-year veteran of the 148th Air Guard and the Chair of the Duluth Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. She is a graduate of both Leadership Duluth and Leadership Minnesota programs. She spoke about the success of their Allete corporate DEI efforts and the recognition that they have received for three years from St. Catherine's College for their efforts. She noted that 50% of their Board of Directors and 50% of their staff are women. Part of her regulatory duties are to help move MP to meet their goals for renewable generation sources. In speaking to the success of Allete meeting DEI and sustainability goals, Bethany Owen, CEO said, "This is just part of who we are". 

 

November is Rotary Foundation Month.
