We will meet at the YMCA the following week, Friday, July 22nd. Our presenter will be District 5580 Governor Kay Biga. For duties we will have invocation only by Mark to allow plenty of time for DG Kay's presentation and discussion. The Board and any member interested to participate will meet with DG Kay at 11:00 to discuss our Club's plans for the upcoming year.
At last week's meeting we heard from Jamie Steckart, Headmaster of Marshall School. He spoke about their new Forest School and the importance of outdoor education especially for children. He stressed that if children are literate by the age of 3 they will be successful. He spoke about Marshall's commitment to making the Forest School financially available to children and that it can be less expensive than daycare. The school is getting support from Americorps, the College of St, Scholastica, and UMD with student teachers. The Forest School program is based on recent scientific research on brain development. This is an ambitious educational program in our community that is having great success.
Deb shared with us that Ross Peterson had been involved in a car accident. He explained that an improperly secured sofa flew through his windshield and that although shaken up he was unhurt.
