We will meet this Friday 9/13 at the YMCA. Board members please plan to meet at 11:00 with District Governor Kay Perries. Our regular meeting will start at noon and DG Kay will then be our Program. Duties this week are: Invocation - Mark, and Fellowship - Tim.
Note a correction for this Thursday's Rotary evening at the Duluth Playhouse for the Jersey Boys. The doors open at 6:00 for social hour, but the curtain is at 7:30 not 7:00 as previously published.
The Board met today and we agreed to join and become active in the Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce. We heard some of VP Kevin's plans for the Club for 2025-2026. Upcoming projects include the In Line Marathon water station this Saturday, the Lester Park Rendevzous set up on 9/27, North Country ride building staining, and the Fall Highway Clean up after our meeting on 10/4.
We were contacted by Hermantown School District that they are prepared to send Student Rotarians to participate in our meetings during this school year. A student from Proctor High School is interested in becoming an Outbound Exchange Student next year. For one of our future meetings we will hear from Alex about her experience at the Zone Institute last week and then we will also plan a tour of the 148th base. Jason has a Zoom meeting scheduled for Wednesday 9/11 at noon with a steering committee for the Paul Harris Dinner sponsored this year by Skyline.
Twin Ports Rotaract met this evening at the Duluth Library. There is a leadership team working to establish the Club starting with UMD and then expanding to the other Twin Ports colleges and universities.
Guests last week were: Our presenter Olivia Sedlachek and Kim Parmeter from the Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce, and Matthew Clark guest of President Adam.
Olivia Sedlachek is the Marketing and Communications Director for the Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce. She grew up in Brainerd before moving to Duluth to attend UMD. She is currently working on her Masters through Liberty University and may be deployed soon with her National Guard Unit. We were pleased to also have Kim Parmeter, President and CEO of the Chamber, in attendance. Olivia gave us an overview of of what the Chamber provides for its members with the focus on, "How can we help?". Our answer needs to be to join and become active so that we have a higher profile in the community on the top of the hill which will also help us to increase effectiveness and our membership. Thank you to Olivia and Kim.
