We will meet this Friday 4/10/2026 at the YMCA. Presenter will be Tom Anderson speaking on the Dangers of Sulfide Mining. Duties this week: Invocation by David and Fellowship by Russ.
The April Board meeting is next Tuesday the 14th at 11:30 at the Depot and by Zoom. All members are welcome to join us for lunch.
We need to schedule followup meetings at the Y and with CHUM to discuss scheduling of projects that both organizations would like us to work with them on.
April is Rotary International Environmental month. Zone 29 would like Clubs to do water related projects. ECO and Harbortown are doing a beach cleanup on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00-noon at Park Point (meeting at the shelter just west of the beach house). We can join them. Register as a guest at: https://duluthsuperiorecorotary.org/event/great-lakes-watershed-cleanup-and-unite-for-water/
Kevin and Deb are making good progress to provide some quick help to Santa Maria de Jesus. When we have a scope of work and a cost estimate for the materials needed for a school/community center we will pursue a Rotary grant.
Guest last week was: Our speaker Connor Doppler.
We had a small group of hearty Skyliners. Our speaker was Connor Doppler, the Assistant Administrator for the Aftenro Home, a non-profit board and care facility that first opened its doors in 1921. The building is located on College Street between UMD and CSS. They draw students from both schools as certified nursing assistants. They provide Alzheimer's and Dementia care. All 54 of their rooms are private. Sounds like they are very committed to their mission as a caring facility. Thank you Kevin for arranging this program.
