The peach order is in. Tickets will be printed shortly and the announcement of this year's Peach Sale on August 16th will go up on our website for on line purchases.
Guests at last week's meeting were our speakers Tammi Johnson and Zuhar Samriye from LSS, and guests of Alex Annika and Faith.
Lutheran Social Service in Duluth provides an array of interventional services to families in need. Tammi Johnson explainred that families in crisis are mostly referred to them by
St. Louis County Social Services. The term, High Fidelity Wrap Around refers to the systematic approach used by LSS to take their client families from crisis stabilization to family guided transition back into the community. LSS provides an array of services state-wide including adoption, crisis nursery, housing, caregiver and companion, employment skills training, financial skills training, nutrition, youth and young adult, and refugee services. Thank you Alex for bringing this program to the Club.
Tom Meyer is looking for an opportunity to sneak in an after meeting members, family and friends golf outing.
Kay Biga mentioned that there will be another Rotary evening at the Duluth Playhouse on September 12th. It will be the dress rehersal before the opening of "Jersey Boys", the Tony award winning musical about Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. I might have to sing along.
July is Rotary International Maternal and Child Health Month.
Thought for the Week
"Every day in a hundred small ways our children ask, "Do you see me? Do you hear me? Do I matter? " Their behaviour often reflects our response."
