Welcome to Skyline Rotary

Duluth Skyline Rotary is a member of Rotary District 5580
Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
Duluth YMCA: 4289 Ugstad Rd. Hermantown, MN 55811 - Driving Directions

We will meet this Friday 9/18 at noon at the YMCA. Our presenter will be Patrick Miner CEO of Super One Foods.  Duties this week are: Invocation - John and Fellowship - Todd.

The Twin Ports Rotary Inter-Club Council met on Monday. Duluth Club 25 President, Dan Maki suggested an all Clubs Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, November 25th. This could be both a Twin Ports Clubs social event as well as a food drive or another reason to give thanks. The Foundation Dinner on November 4th is shaping up with a couple of subcommittee meetings now scheduled to work out details. The World's Largest Polio Walk is scheduled for October 24th at Wade Stadium. There will be family fun activities, food, and press coverage. Commerative shirts and hoodies are available through a group purchase with the District. The $50K gift to Second Harvest is in process, and we will schedule a meeting and work project there in October. It is Rotaract season again at UMD and UWS. The local Clubs will help to support them.

Guests last week were; Our presenter Valeree Hartel Lamb, Uncle Greg Hartel, Harbortown Rotarian Scott Soderberg, and Downtown Rotarian Dan Dock.
Mark started with an invocation remembering those who lost their lives 25 years previously on 9/11/2001, and Rotay's commitment to building world peace.
Valeree Hartel Lamb is one of the three recent generation of owners of Hartel's Disposal which started in 1952. They have a staff of 48 including 28 drivers to serve their 9000 residential and commercial waste and recycle customers. They have double arm residential trucks that can pick up from either side of the street, and huge commercial dumpster lifting trucks. All of the recycle materials are trucked to the twin cities for sorting and selling. Hartel's is heavily involved with the Salvation Army at the Holidays and generally supports youth programs. Thank you to Valeree for her presentation.

Jim passed around a sign-up sheet and described a November 12 cooking class dinner at Duluth Grille that will be a Skyline Social.
Judy Harrison announced that Skyline received a check in the mail from the Airshow for $750 for our work setting up the VIP area.

This is the first year that Harbortown is selling Roses. They are $25/dozen. Pick up is Friday, October 16 9-6PM at Mount Royal, Miller Hill and West Duluth Super Ones and Saturday from 10-2:00 at Mount Royal.

September is Rotary Basic Education and Literacy Month.
