We will not meet this Friday, June 28th or next Friday, July 5th.
Today we did an awesome project. Tom had a great set of plans for building 5 kid sized picnic tables and an adult sized table. He and Susan cut the boards to size so the the crew along with the ECFE staff and kiddos could assemble the tables. The tables should be useful and fun for this and another generation of kiddos. The kids who were there will be able to tell their younger brothers and sisters that they helped build the tables. All of you helped build the tables too by raising funds so that when we were asked it was easy to say yes. Another meaningful project. Pictures will follow.
This evening we had a very congenial and productive LSDBF meeting at Bent Paddle. Skyliners are stepping up and the Superior folks are appreciating that. Good progress on all fronts is being made; sponsorships, teams, advertising, vendors, music, and a couple of attractions will be added. A cornhole tournament and a brewfest on Friday night. The new Festival Co-Chairs are providing great leadership.

It was Alex Schult's birthday and Dan Dock's 40th join date anniversary last Friday. Congratulations!
For fellowship we learned some interesting member history about their worst jobs ever. It was a good reminder to appreciate our successful careers.
David introduced our speaker John Wolforth. John spoke about the efforts and training by Braver Angels to bring civility into discussions by citizens holding apposing views. This concept is very important in our interpersonal and professional lives as well as for political and other issues discussions. They hold workshops to train citizens in techniques to maintain civility and have meaningful dialogue on issues of disagreement. Thank you David for bringing this meaningful presentation to us.
Kay Biga mentioned that there will be another Rotary evening at the Duluth Playhouse in September. It will be the dress rehersal before the opening of the "The Jersey Boys", the Tony award winning musical about the Four Seasons. I might have to sing along.
June is Rotary International Fellowships Month. There are many Fellowships with members locally and around the world.
