Today the log gazebo at North Country Ride got power washed. Next week on Tuesday, July 1 at 10:00 we will caulk the cracks in the logs so that bugs don't infest and destroy them. We will need 2 more volunteers and it should take an hour to an hour and a half. We should ride share if convenient. The final step will be to stain the logs using Adam and his amazing power stain sprayer and follow up paint brushers. Date and time TBD. It was very encouraging to hear and see that that knee boards and handicap ramp that Skyline installed 15 or 20 years ago are still being used every day. There is a great Chuck and Bill story about the ramp.

 

It is time to start getting psyched about selling peaches. Let's have peach t-shirts and peach signs for the Summerfest so that people see who we are.    

 

Guests last week were our presenter Sophie Clock, Paul Almirall, and David's daughters. Sophie Clock is the Community Impact Director at Life House. Last year they served over 800 teens, young adults, and young families with a wide array of services. 80% of their clients experienced homelessness, 100% were living in poverty and 1 in 3 were pregnant or parenting. These are young people living in our community who desperately need the help that Life House provides. Life House has programs for education and employment, mental health and wellness, community and residential housing, and a safe space drop-in youth center. The youth center provides meals, showers and laundry, IDs and vital documents, bus passes, and free hygiene supplies. Their community housing is avaiable at three apartment complexes with 44 units and support staff on-site. The residential program is a single-family home with 5 bedrooms for youths who have experienced human trafficking. The Life House Celebration Gala will be held Thursday, September 25th from 5-9:00 at the Greysolon Ballroom. Thank you Kevin for arranging the program. 

 

Next week on Tuesday, July 1 is the Changing of the Guard at the Pike Lake Golf & Beach Club starting at 4:30 with dinner and program at 5:30. Let's celebrate a great year under Adam's leadership and the start of Kevin's Presidency. 

 

Set up for the Air Show is Thursday July 3rd. We will meet at the Social House parking lot at 9:00 so that we can go through the  security area together.  

 

The Hermantown Chamber of Commerce published a schedule of events for the 2025 Hermantown Summerfest. Plenty of fun and free stuff to do. We should try to have a good Skyline turn out at the Summerfest. I will send an email following the Skyliner with the Summerfest schedule. 

 

The Kids Garden is growing. Check it out and see how Tom and Mark installed a roller on the gate so that it opens and closes easily. 

 

The Valley Youth Center Gopher GOLPH Classic wiil be held Friday, August 1st 9:00 shotgun start at Nemadji. Mark and Tom are playing so we just need two more to fill out the foursome.
