Happy Thanksgiving
There will be no meeting this Friday.
Next week we will meet at the YMCA. The speaker will be Jay Walker, Executive Director of the Great Lakes Aquarium.
The meeting last week was attended by over thirty people. Our best attendance in over two years. Thank you for your commitment to Rotary and to our Club. Guests were: from Proctor High School Evan Bowan, Aaron Nicolson, and Brydon Kolenda, Sarah Boynton, guest of Deb from MPECU, Dan Dock from Club 25, Bob Mclean from Harbortown, and David Lewis. Russ delivered preordered fudge and extras. It is great fudge. He will have more for sale until all is sold. We heard from Amy Hietapelto who told us about her responsibilities resulting from her promotion to a Vice Chancellor position at UMD. She called this a, "really interesting time", and then described the impact of the pandemic on enrollment, staff retirement, and the budget. Her position has all of the department deans reporting to her, and as second in command she stood in for the Chancellor this summer while he was recovering from a medical procedure. A fascinating insight into the leadership of UMD from one of our own members. Thank you Amy.
Ross Peterson, our Foundation Chair, led us in fundraising for The Rotary Foundation.
Bob, Tom, and Mark delivered pies and helped serve Thanksgiving dinner at Life House this Tuesday. Club 25 organizes the meal that is supported by their members and many local businesses. Many young people received a good meal.
Friday December 10 we will holiday shop at 6:00 am and wrap presents at noon at the YMCA. That evening will also be our holiday party at the Aquarium. Please reply to Chris' email saying whether or not you will attend the Holiday Party. Bring your family to enjoy the party and the aquarium.
November is Rotary Foundation Month.
