Happy Holidays!
There won't be a meeting this Friday the 20th or next Friday the 27th. The mid-week Christmas and New Years makes meeting a challenge. So enjoy time with your families and we will get back together on Friday January 3rd, 2025.
The Life House Christmas/Holiday Dinner is this Wednesday December 18th. Skyline provides cookies. They need lots of cookies (chocolate chip, Sugar, or any other except no nuts please). Please put 6 of the same type of cookie in a ziplock bag (we can do this on site too). Plan to deliver to Life House by 2:30 or ask Mark to pick up. These young people really appreciate having a safe place to go for a really nice Holiday meal. Thank you Skyliners.
Thank you to the Skyliners who have rung or will ring the Salvation Army bells. People are grateful to see that there are those who will ring the bells and wish them a Merry Christmas.
We were sorry to hear that due to some health issues our outbound student for next year from Proctor High School, Paul Wolfe, has withdrawn his application. We wish the best for Paul.
Guests last week were Student Rotarians from Proctor Emma McDonald and Ahnika Pampuch, Harbortown Rotarian Fred Rouse, and potential member Matthew Clark.
We started the meeting with some reflections from those who had shopped and delivered presents for our Holiday family and our bell ringers. The Holiday Family shoppers were touched by the gratitude shown us by the Counselor at the Hermantown Elementary School. The teachers are on the front line of seeing families in the community who are struggling and can use some help. We learned that there is another opportunity to help and Garret will follow up. Thank you to everyone in the Club who helps to raise funds to make this work possible and to Garret and Greg for organizing the effort.
The Holiday Family Auction was as rowdy, fun, and successful as usual. Thanks to Hugo for stepping up as the auctioneer and his able assistant Mark "Vanna". Thanks to the gifters and bidders the Club raised $1000. There is a family in Hermantown who will be very grateful for the help that they received from their community to make a better Holiday for their family.
December is Rotary International Disease Prevention and Treatment Month.
