Weekly we collect money for scholarships for our high school students. Last Thursday Mark presented a $1000 scholarship to a Marshall School student. This Monday Mark presented a $1000 and two $500 scholarships to students at Proctor High School. These are great young people from our communities who could improve our world. The Proctor awards also included nine $1000 scholarships sponsored by Debbie, Kent, and Seth Oliver.
Last week we met at and toured the historic West Theater. We learned the Clarence Kaake (Greg's Dad) was one of the original owners in 1937. Bob Boone who is also the Editor of the weekly Reader owns the West. The art deco restoration was done lovingly with the help of skilled crafts people and volunteers. The 250 seat theater was completed right before Covid hit and so struggled through the Covid shut downs and is finally seeing success as a movie and music venue.
We were so pleased to have Kevin and Deb induct Alex Shult as our newest member. Her father Bill made the trip from Prior Lake to see her be inducted. Bill is a past president of his club and is currently chair of the New Generations Committee. Alex grew up in Rotary starting an Interact club and attending RYLA. She will be a wonderful addition to our Club. Please make her feel welcome.
Tom Meyer is working on a design for a Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab public area collection box. When he has it designed we will build it. Thanks Tom for taking the lead on this.
