This Friday 5/23 we will meet at the YMCA. Our program will be by our newest member, Emily Ranta, who is the Branch Executive Director of the Essentia Wellness Center YMCA. She will tell us about her path to her current position, about the YMCA, and how we can continue to collaborate to increase of visibility and grow in the community.
Duties this week are: Invocation - Todd M Johnson, Fellowship - Tim.
Next Friday we will stain the kiddo picnic tables that we built last year. We will start at 11:00, stop for a picnic lunch, and hope to be done by 1:00. We will have the stain and some painting gear, but bring your favorite brush, roller, or sprayer and wear your painting clothes.
Friday is also Teen Night at the Y from 5:30-8:30. We will scope it out and plan to participate more full in the future.
Last week our guest was visiting Harbortown Rotarian Fred Rouse. Lunch by Deb was delicious. Thanks Deb. Greg says that set up for the Air Show will be 7/2 and 7/3. He will have more details soon. Kevin met with Brian Trettel regarding the Y's Block Party on July 17th. We will need 10-15 volunteers and a sign up list is available online. We will coordinate the planting of the Kids Garden when Spring finally arrives.
We watched a TED Talk by Katharine Hayhoe who is scheduled to speak at the RI Convention in Calgary. She is a climate scientist with a great message to share. She is featured in this month's Rotary Magazine.
A hearty crew cleaned the southern end of our section of Rice Lake Road. We will need to go back for the northern half later this Spring.
Monday is Memorial Day. " On this day, take time to remember those who have fallen. But on every day after, do more: put the freedoms they died for to greater and nobler uses."
May is Rotary International Youth Services Month.
Thought for the Week
