Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
We will not meet this Friday 8/8. Take a break and get ready for a very busy next week. Next week on Wednesday at noon is our August Board meeting at the Depot. Friday morning peaches will arrive from Washington. The truck will be on the west side of Sam's Club. Tickets say sales on Friday from 11:00 (but people always arrive sooner) to 6:00, Saturday 9:00 until sold out, and Sunday 9:00 until sold out. Friday at noon we will have Sam's Club pizza for lunch.
Last week's meeting was pretty quiet with a crew golfing at the Valley Youth Center Fundraiser and President Kevin traveling to visit family. The Club Assembly went through Board members roles and then an open discussion about how to make the Club better. We all agreed that one of our old ways of putting the President Elect in charge of fundraising was most effective in discougaging potential Club leaders and secondly not a good way to run our major fundraiser.
I heard from PDG Kay Biga that the Pachel Foundation she manages will be sponsoring a night at the Duluth Playhouse again this Fall on September 11. The musical will be "Million Dollar Quartet" set on December 4, 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis when Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley had a jam sesssion. This will be free to Rotarians and guests. Be there or be square.
August is Rotary International Membership Month.
Thought for the Week
"What really matters from the point of view of social capital and civic engagement is not merely nominal membership, but active and involved membership."
