This Friday we will meet at the YMCA. Our presenter will be District 5580 Governor Kay Biga. Kay is a member of the Twin Ports ECO Club. This is her annual visit to our Club. She will visit all 63 Clubs in the District. That is quite a commitment so please plan to attend and get a chance to meet and speak with DG Kay. For duties we will have invocation only by Mark to allow plenty of time for DG Kay's presentation and discussion. The Board and any member interested to participate will meet with DG Kay at 11:00 to discuss our Club's plans for the upcoming year.
PEACH ALERT We just learned that peaches will arrive a week later than planned. They will arrive on Friday, August 26th. All of our media has been adjusted to reflect the new date, but if you have sold tickets already please notify them that the arrival date is now one week later. Also, please modify your remaining tickets to say that pick up starts on August 26th.
The Rock the Skyline Committee met on Tuesday. Plans are making good progress. If you contacted potential sponsors last year, please plan to ask again this year. If you have suggestions for new sponsors please send them to Lisa.
Updates on our two International service projects. The health care clinic in Nigeria construction is nearly finished. The Refugee Center in Warsaw, Poland is open and mothers and children are receiving mental health counseling. The organizing committee meets week via Zoom. This week we discussed preparing a global grant to fund purchase of a school bus to transport students this fall from their housing to the Center building for schooling. We are also getting close to arranging for purchase of IPads and laptops for the students using the District 5580 grant. The Ukraine war is demonstrating the worst of humanity, but helping the refugee mothers and children is the best of humanity.
Next Friday the 29th our presenters will be St. Louis County Sheriff Ross Litman and Deputy Sheriff Jason Lukovsky. Duties will be: Invocation - Amy Hietapelto, Fellowship - Tim Leutgeb, Greeter - Todd E. Johnson.
Club Secretary Todd is asking for people who don't have badges to let him know so that we can order badges. It is hard for newer members and guests to be comfortable greeting people without badges.
At last week's meeting we heard from Kelly Krieg-Sigman from La Crosse Rotary Club speaking about the Rotary Brain Game. Dr. Bob from the Superior Club was a guest and spoke about organizing Twin Ports Clubs to sponsor the purchase and distribution of these books to local schools and hospitals.
Wednesday the 20th is our RESCHEDULED July Board Meeting from 4:00 - 5:00 in-person at Bent Paddle or by Zoom. A Peach Committee meting will follow.
Saturday, July 23rd at Noon we will be holding a family picnic at Gooseberry Falls Park at the Lakeview Shelter. Chris Sward sent an email that included a map. Please respond to let Chris know if you and how many of your family will be attending.
Stacey Johnson sent a flyer announcing the Grand Opening of the Frandsen Bank & Trust office at 4803 Miller Trunk Highway on Thursday, July 28th from 12:00-4:00 PM with the ribbon cutting at 1:00 PM. Stop in to see Stacey and Jodi and congratulate them on their new office.
