We will meet this Friday at noon on March 1st at the YMCA.
This is, "Bring a Guest" day so round up family, friends coworkers, old school mates, neighbors, golfing and fishing buddies, clients, elected officials, or just surprise us. Kevin will do a warmup/introductions game sure to make our friends feel welcome. There will be meat and no meat Lent food options so all denominations will be accomodated.
Our speaker will be Dan Fanning, VP of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of the Duluth Chamber Foundation. Dan will speak about the upcoming Duluth and St. Louis County at the Capitol Days on March 6 and 7. There will be no duties to save time for guests and our esteemed presenter.
If you snoozed you losed last Friday when we met for Happy Hour at the Bent Paddle Taproom to celebrate the 119th Anniversary of the start of Rotary. We had visiting Rotarian guests, Proctor students - the Johnson brothers, spouses and friends and wandering musicians. Great socializing and beer and root beer, and good food. Kris Lee was not able to attend as she was in Indiana competing at the women's curling nationals hoping to make it to the worlds. Good luck Kris!
Club Planning is underway for attending the District Conference in Fargo on April 11-13th. For first time District Conference attendees the Club will pay their $170 registration fee. We are looking at housing sharing and ride sharing. Plan to make a decision before March 15th when the cost goes up $50. Registration is now open so go to the rotary5580.org website, register, and then submit the expense to Judy Harrison.
March is Rotary International Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Month. Our Club received a WASH grant to provide the water well system and the waste system for the medical clinic built with our partners, Equal As One in Nigeria. There can be no good health if there is no clean water to drink and sanitation system to prevent the spread of disease.
