The May Skyline Board meeting is tomorrow Tuesday the 9th at noon at Bent Paddle and by Zoom. Lunch will be served.  

 

Our guests last week were Colton Suihkonen, and Alex Shult and Superior Rotary members Charlie Johnson, Dan Blank, Tom and Georgette Wondolowski, Alisha Riedel, Kelly Peterson, Luke Mathews, and Dan Diamon. Our program was the Executive Committee of the Dragonboat Festival. Each of the Committee Chairs gave an overview of their responsibilities and an update on the status of their progress. The festival has its own website - superiordragons.org Boat team recruitment has started. There will be a limit of 60 teams that require 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer. Teams need to be half male and half female. The cost to compete is $900 until June 1 when it increases to $1000. Most of the race logistics are contracted out to Superior Timing, Wiki Wiki for the boat rentals, and the Duluth Rowing Club for the course set up. Thursday and Friday are set up days with the festivities starting Friday evening. If you know of organizations who would like to sponsor the Festival contact Dan Blank.   

 

Our meeting next week on May 19th will be back at the YMCA and our presenter will be Lindsey Whitlinger speaking on the Lester River Rondezvous. Duties will be: Invocation - Garret Suihkonen, Greeter - Lisa Neitzel, and Fellowship - Stacy Johnson. 

  

Tom Meyer is working on a design for a Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab public area collection box. When he has it designed we will build it. Thanks Tom for taking the lead on this.    

 

May is Rotary Youth Service Month.
