Monday evening we celebrated the Changing of the Guard at Clyde Iron Works. 50 years as a club serving its community and building friendships. Members with decades of service and members new this year. Our young Board members carrying on the torch. We broke tradition with the Rotarian of the Year being awarded to Garret Suihkonen and Kevin Kalligher, as we had set two goals that they and the Club worked hard to achieve in our 50th year. Adam took the reins, thanked his Board, and promised not to do 50 projects in his year. Thank you from the Club to Tim and his Board. Best of luck to Adam and his Board.
The peach order is in. Tickets will be printed shortly and the announcement of this year's Peach Sale on August 16th will go up on our website.
Guests at last week's meeting were Dr. Bob McClellan from Superior and our speaker Kenny Kolquist from the Hermantown Youth Baseball Association.
Have to mention that Rob's Fellowship was particularly hilarious even for him.
Kenny Kolquist thanked the Club for our contibution to the Youth Baseball Association, but also mentioned other Skyline contributions to the Hermantown Community. He promised that Skyline will be talked about more in the future in the community. This will be our opportunity to draw more members from Hermantown.
Tom Meyer is looking for an opportunity to sneak in an after meeting members, family and friends golf outing.
Kay Biga mentioned that there will be another Rotary evening at the Duluth Playhouse in September 7th. It will be the dress rehersal before the opening of the "The Jersey Boys", the Tony award winning musical about the Four Seasons. I might have to sing along.
July is Rotary International Maternal and Child Health Month.
Thought for the Week
