Duluth Skyline Rotary is a member of Rotary District 5580
Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
This Friday 4/18 at 10:00 we will meet at the New Second Harvest Northland facility 2302 Commonwealth Avenue. Take Grand Ave/Highway 23 south past Morgan Park. We will likely work indoors, but a few of us may work outdoors so bring warm dry clothes. Everyone needs to wear closed toe footwear. The indoors group will sort produce and the outdoor group will help with food distribution. We will have lunch at noon. There won't be any duties this week.
Last week we met at the Karpeles Maunuscript Museum. Matthew
Sjelin, the museum Director, explained that the building had previously been a Christian Science church. The high domed space had remarkable acoustics. The current exhibition was of classical music scores and related correspondence by some of the best known classical composers. The next showing will be of documents related to the Titanic which all of the Karpeles Museums present annually at the time of the sinking. All of the documents in the museums are owned by the Karpeles family and many were purchased at auctions. The museum is a hidden gem and another reason for visitors to come to Duluth.
Tom told us that the Duluth District Conference will be held October 24-26 and that the Friday night opening dinner will be held at the Depot.
April is Rotary International Environment Month.
Thought for the Week
"The earth, the air the land and water are not an inherityance from our forefathers but on loan from our children. So we have to handover to themat least as it was handed over to us.".
