This Friday we will meet at the YMCA and with Zoom.
At 11:15 there will be a photo shoot at the Kids Garden. Please come a little early and join the YMCA staff and kids. They wish to thank our Club for supporting the garden project again this year.
June is Rotary Fellowship Month.
This week’s meeting presenter will be our own Kris Lee. Kris will walk us through the many updates that she has made to our website, and how to use the website to find Club Information. Bring your questions. We all have a lot that we can learn. Duties will be by Leutgebs: Invocation by Mark and Fellowship by Tim.
The RI Virtual Convention starts on June 12.
Monday June 14th is President Todd's last presiding Board meeting.
Next week's speaker will be Brian Tasky. He will be speaking on status of the Splash Pad project that he proposed last year and was set back by the pandemic. Incoming President Matt will also talk about planning for next year.
Friday the 25th we will meet at the Hermantown Outdoor Classroom for a picnic lunch and some work projects.
Some news tidbits; Let's all congratulate Amy Hietapelto. She was front page news on Sunday being named to serve as interim executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at UMD. Well deserved Amy. We had a little scare last week, but the news of Kent Oliver's demise was premature (for a long while we hope). Seems that there was a Kenneth Oliver in the obituaries. I got a worried call from Harry Podgorski, but told him that I knew where to find the answer quickly. Later Harry spoke to Kent. Also in the obituaries this week sadly was Tammy Pagel. Tammy was the niece to a past Skyline Rotarian, Marilyn Peterson. When Tammy was in her twenties Marilyn donated a kidney to her which increased Tammy's life by these last twenty years. That year Marilyn was named Rotarian of the Year by our Club.
Keep Superior Rotarian Paul Damberg in your thoughts and prayers. He has just undergone a life threatening medical episode. We hope that he is improving, but it is still too soon to know.
We heard that the Air Show set up crew is not needed for Wednesday the 23rd, but still is needed on Thursday the 27th.
North Shore Rotary Club will be holding their Lyle Northey - Forekids Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 26th at Lakeview Golf Course starting with breakfast and 8:00 AM tee times. Proceeds will go to students for RYLA, Scholarships, and Interact. This year's event is particularly special as Lyle passed away in this last year. For more information go to: www.northshorerotary.com/golf
Last Sunday was our Family Picnic at Lester Park. We were graced with a nice breeze off of the big lake to keep us cool. Chef extrodinaire Chris grilled up a storm and everybody got their fill.
Please note that I have scheduled recurring Zoom meetings for the rest of the Rotary year.

See you on Friday. This is a sneak peek of the health care center in Nigeria that we were recently awarded a grant to help build. We hope to share a Zoom meeting with the Maryland Club in Nigeria and our Club at a future date.
